September is the New January: Reset and Reclaim Your Year

For many high-achieving women, September holds a special kind of energy. While January is the traditional “fresh start” moment, September often feels just as significant—sometimes even more so. Perhaps it's because the back-to-school rhythm is ingrained in us. But whether you are in the depths of parenthood or other commitments, this time of year sparks a sense of renewal. After the slower pace of summer, September carries momentum. It’s a natural point to pause, refocus, and plan how you want to finish the year strong. Instead of waiting until January, you have a built-in opportunity to take stock and design the final quarter of the year with intention and move into the new year ready to take action rather than begin planning.

3 Prompts we share with clients in September

  1. Reconnect with Your Vision Return to the bigger picture. Are your current goals aligned with where you ultimately want to go in your career or business? If not, September is the time to realign. Get a sense of timelines for key projects, promotions etc - the first step is knowing what needs done by when - even if that is knowing 12 months ahead of time.

  2. Set 1–3 Bold Priorities With limited time left, focus matters more than ever. Choose no more than three meaningful outcomes you’d like to achieve by year’s end. One a month keeps things in check.

  3. Create Systems, Not Just Goals Goals are important, but systems sustain progress. What processes, habits, or structures can you put in place to make daily action feel easier? Imagine stepping into January with your systems and processes feeling stronger so you can say yes to new endeavours with ease.

Closing Thought

September is your chance to choose how the story of your year ends. Instead of drifting toward December feeling reactive, you can step into the last quarter with clarity and intention. Treat this month as the new January—a launchpad to finish strong and set the tone for an extraordinary year ahead. If you'd like help resetting your ambitions for this quarter click here.
